Supplement pages name different substances, amounts and pack sizes. Comparing these details is easier when you separate three questions: which form is named, what does the amount refer to, and how many units are in the pack? The examples below show how to read these details separately.
Which substance or form is named?
Vitamin B12 (methylcobalamin) names a form of vitamin B12. Magnesium oxide names a magnesium compound. These descriptions identify what the product title refers to. Different forms do not establish a ranking for effect or quality: the name of a form alone does not provide that comparison.
What does the amount refer to?
The table reproduces information from the English product titles. These are examples of product information, not recommendations for use. Check the full composition and the reference quantity for the nutrient information on each product page.
| Product | Amount named | Pack size |
|---|---|---|
| Vitamin B12 (Methylcobalamine) | 1 mg | 50 capsules |
| Magnesium Oxide | 540 mg (= 300 mg Magnesium) | 100 capsules |
| Vitamin D3 (vegan) | 1000 IU | 100 softgels |
For magnesium oxide, the title distinguishes the mass of the compound from the stated magnesium amount. The figures 540 mg and 300 mg therefore refer to different things and are not interchangeable. The English vitamin D3 title states 1000 IU and a pack of 100 softgels.
What does the pack size tell you?
A count such as 50 capsules or 100 softgels describes the contents of the pack. It does not specify a daily amount or how long the pack will last for an individual. A larger number of units alone does not establish higher quality. Keep the pack count separate from the amount stated for the substance.
