Possible causes:

  • High iron value (through hair testing) is mainly in relation to heavy metal burden, especially through aluminium and mercury
  • Intake of high dosed iron supplementation (>80mg/day)

Possible consequences:

  • Symptoms of lack of iron through heavy metal burdens
  • Iron (Fe 3+ ) is a strong oxidant, which produces free radicals and damage of cells
  • Haemochromatose  (deposit of iron in the body)

Measures:

  • Remove potential toxic trace elements
  • Intake of antioxidants
  • Regulation of the serum ferritin and if necessary bloodletting
