It is no secret that overweight poses a serious health risk. For many years, the BMI (Body Mass Index) which is calculated from height and weight of a person, has been used to determine whether a person was overweight. Newer research suggests, however, that it is mostly belly fat which causes the known health issues associated with overweight.
This discussion may seem a little useless, because all agree that it is best to be of normal weight; and also can we not choose where we put on our extra pounds. But it is still an interesting fact and should alert those who tend to gain weight mainly around the waist.
